Promotional Fares

Promotional fares are special, limited time discounted fares offered by airlines to attract travelers and boost bookings. They are usually launched during sales campaigns, festive seasons, new route inaugurations or to compete with other carriers.

These fares are often cheaper than standard tickets but usually come with restrictions, such as

  • Limited seat availability
  • Non refundable or partially refundable conditions
  • Specific travel dates or blackout periods
  • Advance purchase requirements

Examples of promotional fares:

  • A festive sale offering 30% off domestic flights
  • A “fly for less” campaign on new international routes
  • Flash sales announced via airline websites, mobile apps or email alerts

How It Works

Airlines release promotional fares in selected booking classes, often in limited numbers. Once those seats are sold, prices return to the regular fare level. These offers are promoted through airline websites, OTAs (Online Travel Agencies), email marketing and travel agency systems. Travelers who book quickly and stay flexible with dates benefit the most from these deals.

At Flight Terminus, we already provide travel agencies the option to configure promotional fares into their system, so they can display special deals directly in search results helping them stay competitive and attract more customers.
